About Robert Perez

Robert Perez

b.1981

Robert was born and raised in Norwalk, California. He has always been interested in art, at an early age he would attend shows with his uncle Arturo (turi) Alvo who was an expressionist painter and school teacher in Bayard, New Mexico. Throughout high school Robert would take various art classes (ceramics, plastic, electronics, summer art class). In the early 2000's he was apart of a 2-man electrothrash (drum machine, computer samples, guitar, vocals) band called the Makeout, which would only last about 6 months before dismembering. Around 2004 Robert would help form The White Wall, an electro dance new wave (drums, drum machine, guitar, 4-keyboards, samples) band, based out of south Los Angeles. The White Wall played various shows throughout southern California, dismembering in 2007. Robert graduated from Cerritos College Culinary Program in 2006, and received his silver and gold pins (top student) along with the Ellis Robinson scholarship award in culinary arts. In the summer of 2009 Robert decided to enroll in a drawing class at Cerritos college and later that year enrolled in a printmaking class. Robert has taken printmaking classes off and on since 2009, and won the 2011 John Demott scholarship award for printmaking. Robert currently lives in Riverside, California with his wife and spends as much time in his studio creating while working a full-time warehouse job.
